Najran in brief . .

The well-preserved Najran
Najran and throughout its history formed a synergetic point where the religions and civilizations have melted together shaping-up itself as a city of virtue and the Constitution of love and coexistence between the society and its surroundings over the years. I see that the best definitions of what highlighted the identity and defined the place and human culture in this well-preserved city.
And I am starting from the fact that Najran is one of the places that are divinely preserved, and this is what many people do not know. It was described from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The four preserved villages, Makkah, Madinah, Elijah, Najran, and every night Seventy thousand angles are coming down to Najran, will salute and bless the owners of the grove and never return to it.

Geography and climate
Located in the southwestern part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on an area of about 365 thousand square kilometers, the area of Najran, or as it is called by Ptolemy (Metropolis), means in Greece the prosperous city. It is followed by seven governorates and several villages.
It is bordered to the south by Yemen, from the north by Riyadh, from the east by the Empty Quarter Desert “Rub' al Khali “and from the west by Asir City. It has a population of over 600,000 and has a mild climate throughout the year and its rains usually fall in the summer.
Najran consists of a variety of environments including mountainous areas, valleys, oases and deserts. This diversity has certainly been given a great tourist advantage in addition to its reasonable atmosphere. In mentioning the mountainous regions, the mountains of Najran are rich in marble and granites Which decorates the floors of the two Holy Mosques as well as the famous Avenue Champs Elysees, France.
"The stones of Najran were imported by the French to Champs-Elysées, which is the finest and most luxurious tourist and commercial streets in the world, and has the finest international shops and fine restaurants," said the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Dr. Sultan Chaouli. (Al-Hayat No. 17196).

Accession to the Kingdom
Najran entered under Saudi rule in 1934 and is considered the only city that entered the Kingdom without war, but willingly and with the desire of its people to integrate, peace and stability which produces civilization, and was previously independent and does not belong to any country.

Its highlights
The most prominent monuments and tourist sites and entertainment frequented by tourists, visitors, researchers and parents of course:
1- The city of the grove mentioned in the Holy Quran (Al-Borouj Verse), and its story is famous and received in many historical sources of Islam and Christianity as well as in the rock inscriptions in the mountains of Najran, which still to this day tells the successive generations of this great epic that some historians consider the first holocaust in the history of mankind. Almost all the sources agree on the entire story of the “Akhdud” that occurred in Year 524 , the king of a Jew invaded Najran city trying to force people to change their faith, and choose between entering the Jewish religion, or burning in fire , but the people of Najran have chosen self-sacrifice for the principle of monotheism.

2- There are historical wells that date back to the seventh millennium BC and still rich in water to the present day. Two years ago, a French Foreign Ministry spokesman said that the French-funded Saudi-French team in Najran (Hima wells) had found the oldest manuscript in Arabic script dating back to the fifth century AD.

3- The Kaaba of Najran, which was built by Abdel-Midan al-Harithi and some historians are suggesting that its more likely to be a church which is mentioned by Al-A'sha: The Kaaba of Najran is bound to you until you approach by its doors and visit “Yazid” and Christ believer and consider them as the best of its owners. The Kaaba of Najran was built east of the city on a mountain called Teslal. Among the modern historians who spoke to the Kaaba of Najran, Dr. Muhammad Al-Zulfah, says: "When the Arabs started the name of Ka'bah of Najran on this church because of its shape, which resembles the shape of the cube. It is natural that this region witnessed in the mid- Historians argued that the Arab pilgrims where visiting it for more than 40 years until the dawn of Islam. The history books said that the church was made of leather and there is nothing left of it now, except that the historian Abdullah Philippi in 1939 wrote in his book that there is a place or space that takes the form of tawaaf. And Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Ansari, who stated that: "The area of Najran witnessed the construction of a church they used to call the Kaaba of Najran, and was worshiped by the Christians of Najran in the era of the Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him, denying that the Holy Prophet had been happy to demolish it, Islam of the Christians at the time ". (Arabic Network)
4- There are also many traditional clay palaces, each of which witnesses a certain historical period. The Palace of Al-Aan is built in Year 1688, and there is the historic palace of the emirate built in Year 1943 and the historical castle of Ra'um.

5- The popular market in the area of Aba al-Saud (the country) and its shops, shops and corridors is a large museum that condenses the heritage of Najran and its popular inheritance of tools, crafts, ancient industries and agricultural products. It includes a market for daggers and a women's market (where women have sold various goods for decades) On the strength and ability of Nigerian women to work and contribute to the stewardship of their home . The market also includes shops for blacksmithing and other pottery industry, and other tanning leather and the manufacture of ancient leather supplies, which are still used by some, especially the inhabitants of desert such as  Mayzab and Mazada and Qatf ...,  Shops for selling silver, and shops selling grains, spices of all kinds, as well as a number of perfume shops, stitching shops, and other private industries - so to speak - those various products made from palm fronds.
6- King Fahad Park, or as it is called by the people (Sakam Forest), is the largest park in the Middle East, covering an area of 4 million square meters. It is a public park with children's playgrounds where events and festivals are held, as well as a natural forest consisting of several species of trees

7- Najran has a university named Najran University which is located on an area of 18 million square meters and is the largest university campus in the Kingdom. There are 14 colleges such as medicine, engineering, computer and administrative sciences .... However, there is no Faculty of Archeology unfortunately, despite the historical and archaeological status of such a large city like Najran!

8- The valley of Najran dam is considered one of the largest dams in the kingdom in terms of its size and storage capacity. Its height is up to 73 meters and its length is estimated at 274 meters. Its storage capacity is estimated at over 86 million cubic meters.

9- Like other modern cities, Najran has a regional airport, which is now blocked due to the conditions of war that we hope will end soon, and a group of hotels, large malls, parks, restaurants, modern cafes and popular sports clubs.

Most prominent persons
One of the most prominent historical figures that Najran gave birth to is mention, but not limited to, the priest of Najran ibn Hakim (the Bishop of Najran) “ The wise and orator of Arabs” ,and the first to say (as yet), and the first who said (evidence on who claimed and the swear on who deny).

Agriculture
Najran is characterized by trade because of its geographical location, which made it a road, a break and a source of convoys to various countries; modern Najran is characterized by agriculture despite its difficult water conditions as the region - like other parts of the Kingdom.
With severe droughts that will gradually become less severe after heavy rains and torrential rains that feed groundwater every season. The most prominent agricultural products and the most famous passing Najran, has gained this quality and excellence since ancient times, where the great Yemeni historian Hamdani in his book (recipe of the Arabian Peninsula): "In Najran the palm trees and the dates
"I have visited Kufa, Baghdad, Basra, Oman, Egypt, Makkah, and most of the land of palm trees, I haven’t seen such quality of Dates and dates products elsewhere.

The Uniqueness of Najran
Najran’s society is characterized by a variety of customs, traditions, cuisine, dress, folklore and folklore practiced by its members in events, celebrations and other aspects that formed the culture of Najran and made it a unique imprint.
Such identity acquired by Najran’s residents from their history of hardships, conflicts and championships, which entrenched in them the courage, generosity and sacrifice, and their ancient civilization, which established in them the civil and love of order and love of life, art and beauty.

I hope that I have succeeded in providing a simple glimpse of Najran, which means in Hebrew the city of thunder and the out of reach peak.
